Toonagh Hall and Sports Complex.
Last November the committee of  Toonagh Hall and Sports Complex was allocated a grant of €4,000 towards the handball area, which is still being processed.  In April 2018, following a fundraising concert, €1,700 was presented to the Committee to purchase a defibrillator, and the balance, to provide a temperature-controlled box, will be funded by the Hall Committee. When this is installed outside the Complex training will be provided.
The boiler in the Hall has also been replaced and the boiler room is to be fire-proofed, and fire doors are to be installed.
The Committee members, Ger Barry, Michael Casey, Eoghan Hynes, Moira O’Loughlin and Sinead Noonan are very grateful for the support they have received from the community, to date, and it is hoped that the upcoming Tractor and Vintage Car Run 2018, which is to be held on Sunday, Oct. 21 will bring in the funding to put the finishing touches to the facility.

Community First Responders Group.
The next meeting to get the Ruan Dysart Community First Responders Group up and running takes place in Ruan Community Centre on Monday, October 22 at 8.30pm.

Recent Death.
The death has taken place of Eugene Casey, Drumeer, Ruan, peacefully, in University Hospital, Limerick.  Eugene lived all his life in Drumeer, where he worked on the family farm.  He was a very obliging neighbour and would be first to offer help where it was needed, he was an adept ploughman and ploughed many gardens over the years. He was known for his knowledge of sheepdogs, and had a great interest in cattle and sheep, and he loved to attend the Mart, meeting other farmers. His neighbours will miss meeting him on the road, as Eugene always had time for a chat. His Friday night game of cards at Murty’s was a great pastime for him.  Even though he lived with diabetes and heart complaints for the past forty seven years, he never complained, just took life as it came and with the help of his family, enjoyed his life.
Eugene was predeceased by his brothers Liam and Declan, and his father, Paddy.  He is survived by his mother, Mary Anne, his sisters Yvonne (Ross), Frances (McMahon), Ann Marie and Michelle, brothers Timmy, Pat, Gregory and Michael, brothers in law, sisters in law, aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  His removal was from Kennedy’s Funeral Home to St. Mary’s Church, Ruan, and, following concelebared requiem mass, he was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

GAA Bingo.
RuaN GAA Fun Bingo was cancelled last Friday night, as a mark of respect to the Casey family, Drumeer. It has now been rescheduled for Friday November 9 next.
