Tidy Towns Competition 2018.
Ruan increased its Tidy Towns marks this year by 5 up to 316 marks, keeping us second in Clare in Category A (population under 200). The stone walls, wildlife amenities, the church and school were all commended as were the various efforts at sustainability, and the judges concluded that continued hard work and attention to detail has made Ruan a lovely place to visit.
Credit must go to the workers in the Rural Resource Scheme and all those in the locality who put the work into keeping the area looking good.

Recent Death.
The death has taken place of Pat Hynes, Clare Road, Ennis, husband of the late Mary O’Leary of Knockaunroe, Dysart.

Cash for Clobber.
Scoil Mhuire, Ruan will hold its first collection of the year before Halloween. By now people are aware of the type of ‘clobber’ that is useful for these collections and they are asked to drop off bags to the School ‘Halla’ any day before then. Donations will be much appreciated.

Under 16A Champions.
There was great excitement on Sunday last when Corofin/Ruan claimed the under 16A Championship final, beating Sixmilebridge  by 2-17 to 3-7 in Gurteen.
The team, mentors and supporters arrived back in the village to a huge bonfire and a warm welcome from the many people that had gathered to greet them.
They then carried on to Corofin with the cup, where they received a great  reception on the main street.

Medal Presentation.
The under 8’s finished their training in Ruan G.A.A. Field last week, and every boy and girl was presented with a medal and a goodie bag. Cian O’Donoghue, a regular with Clare Underage Development Squad, Ashley Brohan and Robin Mounsey, from this year's Clare Minor team and panel, and who were also coaches at the summer camp this year, made the presentations.
The mentors -Mikie Casey, Jason Quirke, Francis O’Halloran, Mark Brohan and Brendan Casey did great work with the children during the year.
