Alzheimers Tea Day.
 The recent Tea Day held in Toonagh Hall and Ruan Community Centre,  to raise funds for people and their family suffering the effects from Alzheimers,  was a great success in the Parish.   €472 was raised and has been given to the local branch of the Alzheimers Society, where it will be used locally.   The support of all those who contributed is very much appreciated.
First Holy Communion.
 Fr. Pat O'Neill celebrated First Holy Communion with the children of Ruan School and their families on Sat. last in St. Mary's Church, Ruan.   
The children,  Chloe Callinan Quealy, Aishling Murray, Kian Crowley, Niamh d'Abreu, Shane Punch, Amy O'Donoghue, Niall Foley, Cian Cassidy, Chloe Green and Sean Le Cathelinias.   The children participated fully in the ceremony, and their teacher Miss De Bruin, played the Silver Flute.  Afterwards, in the School, the Parents Association laid on refreshments and there was a photographer on site to capture the memories of the special day.
Family Fun Day.
 The Family Fun Day, organised by the local G.A.A. Club, was rescheduled to this coming Sun. 22nd May, due to inclement weather, and, hopefully it will go ahead - again weather permitting.   There will be many novelty events and tug-o-war, cake sale, pony rides and a barbecue.  
The Parents Association of Ruan School will have a Bric-a-Brac/Car Boot Sale at the event, to raise funds for Whiteboards for the school.   If anyone has anything they think may be of value to someone else, the Parents Association will welcome donations and drop off points are in Toonagh Hall, 7.30p.m. - 8.30p.m. this Fri, 20th and Ruan G.A.A. Pitch from 7.30p.m. to 8.30p.m. this Sat 21st.  Further information from Mary at 0863149261.
Clare 250 Mile Cycle.
 Anthony O'Halloran, Paul Kelly, Mike Daffy and Kevin O'Regan are four cycling enthusiasts from the Parish who will be taking to the roads of Clare this weekend.   They take part in the Clare 250 Mile Cycle, raising funds to to bring Cancer patients to Lourdes on Pilgrimage in September, and to support the Cancer Centre in Ballygriffey.   The cyclists are very appreciative of the support they have received over the years, and look forward to continued support this year also.
BioBlitz in Dromore.
 Dromore Woods is one of five of Ireland's State owned properties that is competing for the title of Bio Blitz 2011 Championships, which will find out which property can find the most species whthin a park in a 24 hour period.
It begins at 5.00p.m. on this Fri. May 20th and ends 5.00p.m. Sat May 21st.   Anyone wishing to join in this activity may contact the National Biodiversity Data Centre, e-mail or phone 051306240.
Community Games.
 The Clare Community Games Athletics competitions will be held in Lees Road Comples on Thurs. 26th June next.   Children from u8 to u16 who are interested in running or walking races and children from u12 to u16 interested in field events, i.e. ball throw, long puck, shot pull, long jump, high jump, javelin or discus should contact Moira at 0879142824 or Bernadette at 0872496621
