Track and Field.
Aisling Moloney of Toonagh came 3rd in sprint and Neasa Ni Ainifein of Ruan,
came 1st in 600m and 2nd in 300m at the County Final of the Athletics in Lees Road last week.   
They now go forward to the Munsters which will be held in June.
Recent Deaths.
The death has taken place in St. Joseph's Hospital, Ennis, of Belinda Hehir of Drumcavan, Ruan.  Belinda and her husband, John, farmed their land in Drumcavan since they were married fifty five years ago, and Belinda devoted her time to her family, the farm, her flowers and she always had a keen eye for fashion.  In latter years, her grandchildren brought her much happinness and she loved hearing of their exploits.  
Belinda's remains reposed at St. Mary's Church, Ruan, and, following requiem mass, she was laid to rest in the adjoining graveyard.   She is survived by her husband, John, son, Gerard, daughters Cora, Nora, Evelyn and Imelda, daughter in law, sons in law, grandchildren and extended family.
The death also occurred recently of Una Twomey (nee Mullins) of Dublin and formerly of Soheen, Dysart.
Children from Toonagh and Ruan National Schools will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Kieran O'Reilly in Ruan Church on this Fri. 9th May at 3.00p.m.
Sporting News.
U14C team had a good win over Parteen/Meelick in Parteen.  Ruan/Corofin u14A team had a great start to the championship with a win over Doora Barefield in Gurteen.  U8s played their second blitz of the year in the Banner G.A.A. Grounds Ennis last week. 
Twenty players from Ruan had a great morning hurling and learning the skills of the game.
Alzheimer's Tea Day.
Thanks to all who supported the Alzheimer's Tea Day, which, this year, was the 20th annual Tea Day.  It was only held in Ruan Community Centre, due to the closure of Toonagh Hall and, to date, €420 has been raised for this worthy cause.
