Caroline O'Leary, daughter of Mary and Michael O'Leary of Knockanroe, Dysart, married Padraig Carmody, youngest son of Mary and Paddy Carmody of Lissycasey, in St. Tola's Church, Dysart on Saturday.   Bridesmaids were Tanya Curtin and Eileen Stringer.  Bestman was David Considine and Groomsman was Alan Carmody.   Kaila and Lily Stringer, Nicole Carmody and Ciara Keogan were Flowergirls and Pageboys were Evan and Gary O'Callaghan and Sean Healy.   Celebrant was Fr. Pat O'Neill, assisted by Fr. Joe Hourigan, P.P., Lissycasey.
Following the ceremony, the couple were joined by friends and family for a reception in the Armada Hotel, Spanish Point.
U14 Champions.
The u14 hurling team played Bodyke in the final of the u14 Championship in Cusack Park on Sat. last.   It was a great thrill for both teams to get to play in Cusack Park, however, the excitement didn't faze them in any way, and they played their hearts out in front of very appreciative support from both parishes.   Both teams had met previously, and were very evenly matched.
Bodyke's goalie made some great saves in the first half, and Ruan were three points up at half time.
In the second half the teams levelled again, but Ruan finally clinched the game with three points to spart.
From the goalkeeper to full forward - all the Ruan boys gave a great performance.   Mike Lyons, who captained the side, was presented with the Shield by Martin Reynolds, Chairman of Bord na nOg, and afterwards the team headed to The Grove for a well earned meal.
Meanwhile, the u12 boys have played two games in the u12 League, and, so far, have beaten Whitegate and na Fianna.
Their next game is on this Fri. night in Ruan, at 6.30p.m., when they meet an Boithrin.
Field Day.
Finally, the weather report for the next few weeks seems to point to more settled and warmer weather then we've been having of late,
and the local G.A.A. Club has fixed Sunday, 5th June next for their Family Fun Day, there will be further details in next week's Champion.
