Rally of the Lakes.
 Martin Casey from Ruan, with his co-driver, Tommy Commane, came 5th overall in the Juniors and 2nd in his Class in the Rally of the Lakes in Killarney, driving his Honda Civic.   His next outing is in the Limerick Rally to be held in a few weeks time.
Ruan Pre-school and After School
Ruan Pre-school and After School, as well as the Parent and Toddler Group will all benefit from a Cake Sale which will be held this coming Sunday after Mass in Ruan.   These community services are serving the Parish very well,, and they look forward to support of the Community on Sunday.
 Rebecca Crowe from Dromina, Dysart, was a member of the Clare u16 team which lost to Kilkenny in the All Ireland Championship.   The Ruan u14 team continues to do well in the Championship, having beaten Bodyke last week.   This week they meet Parteen.
Community Games.
 Well done to the boys and girls who competed in the Clare Community Games Futsal Competition on Sat. 30th April last.   The boys team, of Caimin Whelan, Robbie Keane, Patrick O'Gorman, Rory O'Loughlin, Johnathan Barry, Patrick Healy, Llew Marrinan and Liam Moran, came 5th.   The girls team of Jessica Healy, Eimear O'Brien, Laura Leilan, Kelly O'Leary, Sarah Gilmore, Cliodhna Hynes, Claudia O'Donoghue and Leah Morgan, came 4th and received Certificates.
Sports Award.
 Congratulations to Suzanne Kelly of Dromina, Dysart, who was presented with the Clare Athletic's Association's Junior Women's Sports Award for Long Jump, at a function held in the Auburn Lodge Hotel on May 1st.
 The death has taken place of Gerard of Driscoll of Carrowkeal, Crusheen, and formerly of Ruan, following an illness.  His remains were removed from his brother and sister-in-laws Patrick's and Carmel's home in Pine Grove to The Cathedral, Ennis, and following concelebrated Requiem Mass, Gerard was laid to rest in Dromcliffe Graveyard.  He is survived by his brother, Patrick, his uncle, Tom Kelly, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews,  many cousins living in  this parish, and many friends.
 Stroll in Dromore Woods.
On this Sunday, 8th May, a walk will be held in Dromore Woods, with the proceeds going to the Clare Cancer 250 Cycling team.   Registration is at 12.30 for a 1.00p.m. start from the Car Park in the Woods.   Bring suitable walking gear and a light snack and enjoy the walk in the Woods.
Ruan Field Day.
The local G.A.A. Club is looking forward to a big turn out for its Field Day which will be held in Ruan G.A.A. field on Sun. 8th May, starting at 12.30p.m.   The activities include obstacle races, penalty shoot-outs, target shooting, sponge throwing and many other activities for the family.   There will be a tug-o-war competition for parishioners.   
A shop and BBQ will be on site on the day and there will be a cake sale at 1 o'clock.
