Hellraisers Fundraiser.
A group of twenty two people left Ruan in the early hours one morning recently and headed to Killruddery, Co. Wicklow to participate in a "to Hell and Back" fundraiser for Ruan N.S.  They returned to the village later that evening and danced their pain away at a barbecue in Purcell's to the music of The Hound Dogs.
Over €2,500 has been raised for the resurfacing of the school yard. 
Their next venture is to Adare in September for the "Adare to Survive" challenge and anyone wishing to join them should contact Loretta O'Connor for details.

County Fleadh .
A large number of talented musicians and singers from the parish took part in the Fleadh which was held in Kilrush at the weekend. Gary Shannon's  Burren u15 Band came 3rd and the Burren u18 Band took 1st place and his Corofin u18 Band came 3rd.  Niamh Whelan, Darragh Shannon and Ross O'Donovan came 2nd in Grupa Ceoil u18. Caimin Whelan came 2nd in mandolin. Tierna Casey came 2nd in slow air on fiddle u12. Moyà Tiernan came 2nd in whistling u12. Eve O'Connor came 1st in fiddle u12, 1st in Irish Harp u12 and 1st in Duets u12 with Eva Carroll. Lily O'Connor came 2nd in concertina 12-15, 1st in Irish Harp 12-15 . She joined Rosa Carroll coming 2nd in duets 12-15 and came 1st in trio with Roisin Carroll and Oisin Egan.
Barry Heagney came 2nd in uileann pipes and 1st in uileann pipes slow air 15-18.  He, Ross O'Donovan and Sean O'Doherty came 2nd in trio 15-18. Shona O'Halloran with Roisin Clancy came 3rd in duets 12-15. Emily Whelan came 2nd in English singing u12, her sister, Zoe came 3rd in English singing u15 and their mother, Denise won the o18 English singing. Jamie Cantillon's and Tierna Casey were members of the Inis Og group which win the Grupa
Ceoil u12 and they were also in the u12 Inis Og Band u12. Eimear and Holly O'Loughlin are members of the  Croisin Grupa Ceoil u12 which came 3rd and Croisin Banna Ceoil u12 which came 2nd and all the above will now go on to represent Clare in the Munster Fleadh in Nenagh on the 18/19 July next.

Feile na nGael.
Twenty three players with their families and mentors travelled to Co. Down at the weekend to represent their Club and County in Feile na nGael.  On their arrival they played their first game against Luke O'Toole's and were beaten by a goal, then they met Carryduff, which they beat and after that game they met their host families in Ballycran.
On Sat. morning they beat Ballycran and reached the quarter final where they beat Easkey, from Sligo. That evening the group were treated to a meal and entertainment in the local Clubhouse.
On Sunday morning they said their 'goodbyes' to their host families and went to Garvaghey, near Omagh, the Centre of Excellence of hurling in the North where they played Blackwater, Wexford. Ruan was winning right up to the end of normal time when Blackwater drew, and after extra time Blackwater emerged as winners by a single point.
Blackwater  were subsequently beaten by Luke O'Toole's in the final.
It was a very enjoyable and exciting weekend for the young players and they were treated really well by the host Club.

Community Games
Well done to all the children who took part in the County Community Games Track & Field in Lees Road, Ennis on Sunday
 The u10 mixed relay made the semi final, team members were Christian Cummins, Saoirse Barry, Cliona Jones, Ethan Ryan, Tadhg Wynne.
 The girls u-12 relay were unlucky not to make the final.  Team members were Aoife Anderson, Maria Jones, Aisling Moloney, Neasa Ni Ainifein, Neasa Ni Lachtnain
 Neasa Ni Ainifein won Bronze in the 600m,  Tara Moroney was won a certificate for 4th in the 60m
Blaithin Barry got to  in the final of 80m.  Aoife Cummins competed in the 60m.
 Amy O'Donoghue and Roise ni Lachtnain, Joshua Ryan Ethan Ryan and Pearce Wynne, Aodhan O'Lachtnain, Danny Saunders, David Droney also competed
