Cancer Research Fundraiser.
A "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" hosted by Michaela Hillary recently, in her home, raised €600 in aid of Cancer Research.   Michaela was supported by her family, friends and the local community in her fundraising efforts. All the confectionery was provided free by Zest.  Michaela appreciates all the help and support she received and the funds raised have been forwarded for Cancer Research.
Recent Death.
The death occurred last week of Tommy Cassidy of Moyhree, Ruan.   His remains were removed from Kennedy's Funeral Home to St. Mary's Church, Ruan, and following requiem Mass he was laid to rest in the adjoining graveyard.   Tommy is survived by his brothers John, Christy and Patrick and his aunt, Killy Cassidy.
Tidy Towns.
Tidy Towns inspections will be taking place in the coming weeks.  The local Tidy Towns Committee appreciates the work done throughout the year, and would encourage people to keep up the good work, in painting, strimming, grass cutting, weed control and floral displays in the coming weeks.
Ruan Minor Club.
The Ruan/Corofin u14 hurlers had a win over Clooney/Quin in Newmarket on Mon. evening, in the semi final of Division 2, in a good game of hurling.  They will now play the Tulla final of that competition in Cusack Park at the weekend, and support would be welcomed, as this is a great achievement for our young hurlers.
Alzheimer Society.
The people of this parish have contributed generously to the Alzheimer's Society over the years, supporting the Tea Days as they happen every year.   This year €530.72 was raised in Toonagh, while Ruan raised €230.00, thanks to the generosity of all who supported the events, by baking, helping out on the day, and donating to the Cause.  The Ennis branch of Alzheimer Society's Dementia Specific Day Care Centre has vacancies for clients, with a Specialist Activity Programme, tailored towards clients' interests, skills, experiences and personalities. A bus would pick up and drop off, where possible.  Information from Linda Murphy 0879152151.
