Schools out for Summer.
The schools in the parish are now closed for the summer holidays, and there was a novel and exciting treat for the children of the community on Thursday evening last, when Toonagh Hall Committee held a Movie Night in the Hall. The film ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ was shown and children enjoyed the ‘cinema’ experience, with popcorn, candy floss and drinks on hand. It was a resounding success, and the committee is very appreciative of all who helped and to Donnellans Centra,  Lakefield Store in Corofin and Copystop for their sponsorship.  Funds raised will go towards painting and repair of the canopy outside the hall.
The next community event which will be held in the hall is ‘Family Yoga with Rosie’  on Sunday, July 21 at 2.30pm. Contact Pamela @ 0876224698 for details.
The Mike Gardiner Band with Noreen Ferns are playing in the Hall on August 31, as a fundraiser, more details nearer the date.

Before closing up for Summer the children in Ruan School  had their school tours - to NUIG and to the Burren Nature Sanctuary in Kinvara. Toonagh schoolchildren went toMoher Hill Activity Farm, U.L. Activity Centre, Ben’s Surf School in Lahinch and St. Tola’s Goats Farm in Inagh.

Recent Death.
The death has taken place of Thomas Neylon, Ballykinvaraga, Kilfenora, brother of Ann Taaffe, Kells.

Under 14 Feile
Local girl, Saoirse Barry, who plays football with Banner Ladies Football Club, played with them in the Under 14 Feile Division 2 Shield Final in Cong, Co. Mayo on Sunday. They beat Killeavy, a team from Armagh in the final after a semi final against Tinahely, Co. Wicklow, where both teams were level at full time, level after extra time, had five free kicks each and finally ‘sudden death’ which the Banner won.
It was a very exciting weekend for the girls, and they, their parents and mentors had a great time in Mayo.
