Christmas Concert.
The parents of the children attending Toonagh N.S. were treated to their children's annual Christmas Concert recently, This Concert has, for years, been the marker for the start of the Christmas Season in the area and, once again, it showcased the huge amount of talent which each and every child in the school possesses - from acting, dancing, singing, recitations and music - the audience was enthralled. The Parents Association ran a raffle and great credit is due to children, teachers, parents and the local FAS workers who had the hall looking so festive.

Santa Visit.
Ruan N.S. had a visit from a very special person last week - Santa arrived at the school in great style, zooming up through the village to the school in a sleigh, pulled with great gusto by a Reindeer. He received a warm welcome from the children, teachers and parents and he distributed selection boxes to the children.   The visit was organised by the Parents Association, and by each child giving €2, Santa raised a tidy sum which he is donating to Temple Street Hospital for Sick Children.

Recent Death.
The death has taken place of Creena Kelly, formerly of Bealnalicka, Ruan and Kincora Park, Ennis, at the home of her niece, Mary Carmel and her husband Pat Doohan, in Birmingham, just two days short of her 94th birthday. Three years ago, after the death of her sister, Becky, Creena moved to Birmingham, where she settled with great enthusiasm - she continued her gardening and crochet and still followed Ireland's exploits on the rugby field, well able to discuss the team's performances after their games.   She was the kind of person who always saw the good in people, and one would come  away from meeting her feeling better for their encounter.  She was the last surviving member of the six Kelly family reared in Bealnalicka.
Her cousins, Fr. Tony Casey and Fr. Michael Casey, assisted by Fr. Pat O'Neill,  concelebrated her requiem Mass, at which Monica Morgan and  the children of Toonagh N.S. provided the beautifully, fitting music and singing.  Creena was laid to rest in Dysart Graveyard.

Choir Practice.
Local musician, Fergal Breen, who has a Diploma in Piano and was awarded a Scholarship last year from Ennis Cathedral, will hold choir practice for Christmas with the choir of Dysart Church  after 6.30p.m. Mass this Sat. evening, 20th Dec. All singers who are interested in joining are most welcome.
