Christmas is Coming.
The festive season has begun in the parish with Santa visiting Ruan N.S. last week in his sleigh. The children waited for him and the excitement, when he rolled up the road to the school, was palpable.  Each child got a little gift and the monies raised on the occasion go to Temple Street Hospital.
On Thursday night last the children of Toonagh School staged their annual Christmas Concert in the local hall, which was filled to capacity.
It was a very entertaining evening and all agreed that the talent in the parish is something to encourage and treasure.
On Sunday the Senior Citizens' party was held at Morty Kelly's.
Around fifty people enjoyed Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, after which Frank Custy and friends, Joe Quinn and Garry & Darragh Shannon entertained the gathering.

Ruan G.A.A.
The AGM of the local G.A.A. Club was held recently and the following officers were elected: President, Mick Leahy; vice-Presidents, Fr. P O'Neill, C O'Connor;  Chairman, Frankie Lyons;  Treasurer, John O'Sullivan; assistant Treasurer, Vincent O'Halloran; PRO, Declan Cassisy; assistant PRO, Gearoid Roughan; Registrars, N O'Connor, P Keegan, P Howard, V O'Halloran; Co Board Delegate, Ger Lyons; Coaching Officer, F O'Halloran; Irish Officer, G Heagney.
Due to the fact that the meeting failed to elect a secretary, child protection officer and wellbeing officer, a reconvened AGM will be held on Monday night next, 21st Dec. at 8pm in Ruan Community Centre, and anyone interested in helping out is welcome to attend.
