Bring and Buy Sale.
Ruan/Dysart Graveyards and Tidy Town group is holding a Bring and Buy Sale in Ruan Community Centre after 8pm Mass in Ruan on this Saturday December 15.
Items on sale will include timber, turf, hay, silage, books, brick a brac, cakes and home baking and there will be spot prizes and a raffle for a Christmas Hamper.  Items for the sale may be left into the Community Centre on Friday from 6-7pm and on the day of the sale between 12 noon and 2pm.
The support of the community will be much appreciated as this is an important means of fundraising for the group which has been to the fore in the upkeep of the graveyards in the parish and in keeping the village and its environs looking well and gaining marks in the Tidy Town Competition year on year.

Date for your Diary.
Sunday January 13, 2019 - the annual Toonagh Walk will take place around the quiet roads of Toonagh, three routes, suitable for families and all levels of fitness. Registration will be at 11am and there will be hot/cold refreshments and treats in the hall afterwards, with a raffle for great prizes.
This year the funds go towards The Huntington’s Disease Association. Please contact Denise Whelan @ 0876731966 for further details.

Surprise Visit.
Adam Quirke from Ruan turned 13 recently and is a very popular pupil in Ruan National School. He is an avid fan of the singer, Gavin James, having seen him perform at Electric Picnic this year, which he attended with his family. Imagine Adam’s, and indeed all the pupils’ excitement and delight when, on Monday of last week, as they were in the school ‘halla’ the door opened and in walked Gavin James.  The level of excitement was a sight to behold while Gavin mingled with the children and staff, sang and signed autographs.
He made it a day to remember for so many people, and great credit must go to Ms. McArdle and all in the school who arranged the very special visit.
