LOURDES DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE:  Bishop Kieran O’Reilly SMA will lead this year’s Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes from June 26th to 1st July.  At €670 it is the cheapest Diocesan pilgrimage price out of Ireland in this the Centenary year of the First Irish pilgrimage to Lourdes in 1913. Week 4 – Safeguarding Children:

The Diocese’s Safeguarding service is committed to ensuring that our Church is a safe environment for children.  As part of this commitment Cleo Yates was appointed as Director of Safeguarding and Designated person in August 2012 and is assisted by Fr. Pat Malone. Part of her role is to ‘Plan and manage the Diocesan Child Safeguarding Service with particular emphasis on creating, maintaining and monitoring a safe environment for children in all aspects of church life and activity; To act as the Diocesan Designated Person who hears concerns relating to safeguarding, including any disclosures or allegations of abuse, and take responsibility for managing the response to that concern or disclosure.’ Cleo can be contacted on 065-6828638 Ext 114, Mob 086 8096027

DIOCESAN CONGRESS: The Diocese of Killaloe is planning a congress on the theme of Faith Today. The Congress will be held in St Flannan’s College, Ennis from the evening of Friday, 13 September, 2013 to Sunday morning (15 September). Details to follow.

BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS: Congratulations to the Toonagh N.S. Girls' team who won the County finals of the Cumann na mBunscoil Basketball on Thursday. On the way to the final they defeated Mol an Oige, Corofin, Ennistymon N.S., Furglan N.S., Cloona N.S. and Barefield N.S.  They beat Kilmurray in the semi-final and met Kilrush Gaelscoil in the final, defeating them on a scoreline of 37 to 19.  The Marian Keane Trophy was presented to Leah Morgan, who captained the team.   

The panel comprised Leah Morgan, Zoe Whelan, Sarah Cantillon, Sarah Gilmore, Lauren White, Lily O'Connor, Ailbhe Bane, Ivana O'Halloran, Shona O'Halloran, Aaoife Meere, Alison Woodford, Eimear O'Loughlin, Tierna Casey, Eve O'Connor, Katie O'Halloran, Sadie Keane, Aoife McInerney and Lisa Whelan. Great credit is due to the girls and their trainers, Joe Carmody and Mairead Barry.


Ruan Minor Club are having a meeting in Ruan Community Centre on Tuesday 28th at 9 pm. Parents are invited to attend. 

Ruan/Corofin under 14s are having a very successful championship and are through to semi-final. Date and venue to be decided
