Wednesday 13th May The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of
God, appeared six times to three shepherd
children; Lucia dos Santos and her cousins,
Francisco, and Jacinta Marto;
between May 13th and October 13th 1917.
She came to the little village of Fatima
which had remained faithful to the Catholic
Church during the recent persecutions by
the government.
Our Lady came with a message from God
to every man woman, and child. Our Lady
of Fatima promised that the whole world
would be in peace, and that many souls
would go to Heaven if her requests were
listened to and obeyed. At Fatima, Pope John Paul II said;
"The message of Fatima is more relevant
and more urgent than when Our Lady
first appeared."
Our Lady of Fatima continues to work
miracles today through the message of
Fatima and the prayers of countless
pilgrims who have travelled here in the last
hundred years. Weekly Donations now available Online. the first month of Summer in the Irish
calendar. The first day of May was
celebrated and throughout the month
new beginnings were marked so the
month is often mentioned in folklore
and proverbs. The Celtic year was
divided into two halves, darkness and
light. November began the period of
darkness. May was the beginning
of the season of light.
May is also the month devoted to Our
Lady, beginning of Summer, month of
the cuckoo, swallows and flowers.
Lord, be with us during the month of
May. We can show our love for Our
Lady by reciting the Rosary and the
following hymn during the month of May: CúL Camp will take place in Ruan from 12th to 16th July.
