Happy Mother's Day

'The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before.

The woman existed, but the mother, never.

A mother is something absolutely new.'       (Rajneesh)

Trócaire’s Lenten Campaign:  “…whoever honours a mother is like someone amassing a fortune.” Ecclesiasticus, 3:4.  This Mother’s Day we pray for mothers around the world who agonise over their children’s futures in the harshest environments.  We think of Miriam, who appears on this Lent’s Trócaire Box, as she wonders if she will manage to get her little daughter Maria to safety when the next storm hits northern Honduras and floods their home. Read Miriam and Maria’s story at www.trocaire.org/lent

Lenten Reflections:  A one page reflection on each Sunday Gospel called Hearing, Happening, Hoping can be downloaded from the Killaloe Diocesan website http://www.killaloediocese.ie/diocesan-news/lent-2017-hearing-happening-hoping.html.  Weeks one through five are available now.  These reflections were prepared by Jane Mellett, (Dublin), Sr. Marie McNamara and Maureen Kelly (Killaloe), Fr. Séamus O’Connell and Jessie Rogers, (Maynooth)
