Paddy Carmody a native of Carrigaholt, and a priest of the Diocese of Killaloe for 63 years. He was a past pupil of St Flannan’s College, Ennis. In1961 he became curate in Ruan, where he served until 1972. He was laid to rest in the Church grounds in Cooraclare during the week. Suaimhneas síoraí tabhair dó a Thiarna, agus go lonraí solas suthain air “You Shall Be My Witness” The final preparation programme concluded last Sunday night in Corofin. A sincere “Thank You” to the 70 pupils in the Imeall Boirne Pastoral Area and to their parents and teachers for their active participation and continued preparation for the Blessed Sacrament of Confirmation in June. Ash Wednesday March 6th marks the beginning of the holiest time of the Christian year. With the priest using his right thumb to apply the ashes while saying the prayer, "Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return," the 40-day Lenten season commences. Traditionally, at least one person from every household attends Church on Ash Wednesday so they would bring home a pinch or two, so that all family members could have their foreheads marked. |
