Honours for Hurlers.
Two Ruan hurlers tasted victory at All Ireland level recently.   Long serving hurler, Francis O'Halloran, won an All Ireland Intermediate Junior Medal with Limerick Prison Officers.   Francis was the goalkeeper on the team which defeated Galway side, Medtronic, in the final.   Killian Ryan won a Fitzgibbon medal with his College, U.C.C., when they defeated Mary Immaculate College, Limerick in the final.   It has been a memorable few months for Killian, who won Munster and All Ireland u21 medals with Clare, the Intermediate Championships with his own Club, Ruan, and now All Ireland College honours with U.C.C.
Rally News.
Martin Casey, Ruan, driving his Honda Civic, with Brian Hassett, Crusheen, navigating, were the only Clare crew taking part in the Mayo Stages Rally at the weekend.   They had a great finish, overcoming mechanical failure at the start of the rally, to come in 3rd in his class in Juniors.

Ageing with Confidence.
It is proposed to hold an 8 week course, 2 hours each week,  in Ruan Community Centre after Easter on the subject of "Ageing with Confidence".  This course has been developed for men and women who are in middle age and older, and who are living in the community.  The objectives of the programme are to:  assist and facilitate people to explore their own ageing;  challenge the myths and stereotyping that lead to ageism;  provide information on physical, phychological and social aspects of growing older.  The course will run in the mornings or evenings, depending on the preference of the majority enrolling, and a minimum of ten people are needed to run the course in the parish.  For further information, please contact Mary at 6837989 or Maureen at 6841768.
Ruan United.
Ruan United Soccer Club will hold a "Bingo Nite" in Purcell's Bar, Ruan, this Fri. night, 15th March, at 9 p.m.  There will be great prizes on the night and plenty of "craic" is assured.   The support of the community will be much appreciated.
