Local History Group.
There is a great interest in the local history meetings which have been taking place over the past few weeks, and quite a lot of information is being gathered about townlands and families who have lived in them over the years.
The next meeting is on Wed. 13th March next, at Morty Kellys Bar at 8.30p.m. The census of 1901 - 1911 has yielded information for those years, however, the group is interested in learning more from 1911 to the present day.
Anyone who might have stories surrounding those years, or anyone interested in collecting data will be most welcome at the meeting.

The death has taken place of Frances Whelan, of Dublin, suddenly in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.   Frances is the last surviving member of the Whelan family of Peafield, Ruan.   She spent her adult life living and working in Dublin, but she always kept in touch with her relations and friends back in Clare, visiting at Christmas and Easter.
Requiem Mass was celebrated in Killester Church, followed by cremation in Glasnevin Cemetery.   She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Whelan, Larchill, brother-in-law Dominic Temple, Dublin, nieces, nephews and friends.
School Enrolment.
Scoil Mhuire, Ruan is now accepting enrolments for September, 2013.
Application forms are available from the school and also the pre-school.

Social Dancing.
Set dancing continues in Ruan Community Centre on Tuesday nights at 9.00p.m. and now also includes social dancing - waltzing and jiving.
All are welcome.
