Brid is top P.R.O.
 
Brid McNamara from Ranaghan, Ruan, has been named National P.R.O. of the year for the second year in succession, following her trojan work as P.R.O. of Clare Camogie.   She will be presented with her award in Croke Park on Fri. March 1st next, as part of The Camogie Association Media Awards, and it is a well deserved award for her, as she has given camogie a high profile in the media in Clare during her time as P.R.O.
 
Recent Deaths.
 
The death has taken place of Kathleen O'Neill (nee Morgan) in England, sister of Jim Joe Morgan, Ballynagonnaghtagh, Dysart and Sr. Mary Morgan, Tipperary.  Buriel has taken place in Leister.
The death has also occurred of William Feighery, Killeen, at his home, at the age of 87 years.   William spent his life farming his land in Killeen, until illness forced him to retire.   His remains were removed from O'Halloran's Funeral Home, Corofin to Corofin Church, and following requiem Mass with Fr. Pat O'Neill, celebrant, he was laid to rest in Kilvoydane Graveyard.   
He is survived by his brother Paddy, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces and friends.   
The death has also taken place of Geraldine Chaplin, Sixmilebridge, sister of Mary Cooney of Ruan.
 
Apostolic Society.
 
The local Apostolic Society members are busily preparing for the annual Display of work which will take place on Sun. 7th April in Ruan Community Centre.  Anyone wishing to donate a sacred vessel to the Missions in memory of a loved one may contact Eileen Roughan, Eileen Hannon or Mary Marrinan, who will have all the details.
 
Community Games
 
Clare Community Games Talent Competition will be held on Sun. 24th March in Sixmilebridge G.A.A. Hall at 9.00a.m.   1st and 2nd place in each competition at parish level may enter the County Competition.   Entries should be in to Moira O'Loughlin by March 6th.   Ages u12/u13/u14 July 31st 2013 and entry fee is €2 per person.   
The following are the categories -
u12 Group Dance (Irish Contemporary) - all boys/all girls/ mixed
u12 Solo recitation (one piece)
u13 Solo music (may perform 2 pieces and may use more than one instrument)
u14 Solo dance - modern and disco:  solo singing (may perform two pieces);  group dance (modern and disco) all boys/all girls/mixed:  group singing, all boys/all girls/mixed;  set dancing, all boys/all girls/mixed;  group drama or comedy sketch; group music (maximum six people in group).
