Thought for the Week.

"Hope comes from faith and leads to life.  It is, in part, a state of expectancy,

the looking forward to the fulfilment of God's promises to us ... These will sustain us when the going gets rough, or the way is difficult."                       (Cardinal Hume)

There are only 1 or 2 more graves available in Ruan and Dysart.  From now on, people without existing graves will have to be buried in nearby graveyards - the Kyle or Drumcliffe or Corofin, if spaces are available there. The Community have, to date, been unable to obtain an alternative site for a Parish Graveyard and we earnestly appeal to local landowners to consider making land available to alleviate this situation.

Advent Tree in Dysart Church -

During this Season of Advent, we prepare ourselves to welcome the Baby Jesus into our hearts and our homes.           As we wait in hope, let us acknowledge and pray for those, who for one reason or another, will not be "with us" this Christmas - perhaps you know a loved one who has emigrated, someone suffering mental health difficulties, a hospital patient, someone suffering addiction, or Alzheimer's disease....?               Please take a card from the basket ... representing someone we will keep in our thoughts and prayers at this time.  Write the individual/s name on it and hang it on the Advent Tree.  The names hanging on the Advent Tree will be removed on Christmas Eve and will form part of the Offertory Procession at the Vigil Mass.

We also invite you to take a card from the box.... each representing a particular gift you may wish for yourself during this Season of Advent, e.g. tolerance, contentment, patience, kindness, courage, peace, happiness, etc. and hang it on the tree.  As we focus on the true gifts of Christmas, let us unite in prayer to prepare ourselves for the coming of the Baby Jesus.

Toonagh Hall & Sports Complex.

An A.G.M. to elect a committee to run Toonagh Hall & Sports Complex will be held on next Wed. 10th Dec. at 9 pm in the Hall. This is an earnest plea to individuals and representatives of groups who wish to use the hall, handball and football alleys, and kitchen over the winter to attend, as the facility may not reopen if a committee is not put in place to run same.

Christmas Sale of Work:  A Christmas sale of work will be held in Ruan on this Sunday 7th December after 10 am Mass to raise much needed funds for the Tidy Towns and graveyards maintenance.  On sale will be timber, turf, cakes, Christmas flower arrangements & decorations. 2nd hand designer clothes, books, bric a brac – something for everybody
