It's a kind of delayed gratification that culminates in a..... Satisfaction that is all the richer for the waiting. (Joan Chittister "Listen with the Heart") Advent Tree: During the season of Advent, we prepare ourselves to welcome Baby Jesus into our hearts and our homes. As we wait in hope, let us acknowledge and pray for those who, for one reason or another, will not be "with us" this Christmas - perhaps you know a loved one who has emigrated, someone suffering mental health problems, a hospital patient, someone suffering addiction or Alzheimer's disease ........? People are invited to take a card from the basket, representing someone we want to keep in our thoughts and prayers at this time. Write the individual's name on it and hang it on the Advent branch. The names hanging on the Advent branch will be removed on Christmas Eve and will form part of the Offertory Procession at the Vigil Mass People are also invited to take a card from the box - each representing a particular gift you may wish for yourself during this season of Advent, e.g. tolerance, contentment, patience, kindness, compassion, peace, happiness, etc. and hang it on the branch. As we focus on the true gifts of Christmas, let us unite in prayer to prepare ourselves for the coming of Baby Jesus.
