Death.
 
The death has taken place of Mrs Margaret Cullinan, nee Walsh, Ballytigue , Ruan. Margaret came to Ruan from Maurice's Mills, when as a young woman she married Murty Cullinan, and together they worked on their farm and reared their family. She loved her style and was always interested in fashion and Ceili music, particularly the Kilfenora Ceili Band. She had great rapport with her grandchildren, who always kept her up to date with the happenings in their lives , even during the past 11 years since ill health saw her residing in Cahercalla.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Murty and son Pakie.
She is survived by her sons John, Morty, Tom and daughters Mary (Keating) and Bridget ( O'Connor), her brother Paddy Walsh, sister Ann, grandchildren and extended family.
 
 Dublin Horse Show. 

Tommy O'Gorman from Dysart came 2nd in the Breeder's Championship at Dublin Horse Showlast week. Tommy with his mare Dysart Lily and her filly foal by V.D.L Arkansas, qualified for Dublin at the Galway Show. This is the second year he has had success at the R.D.S.

Hurling.

Corofin/Ruan U16A team player Doorabarefield in an exciting game in Ruan on Monday evening in the final round of the championship. 
It ended in a draw 2-12 to 1-15. They have now qualified for quarter final having won six and drawn one of the games. 
They now meet Clonlara in the quarter final.
 
Poker Classic.

Ruan United Soccer club are holding a Poker Classic in Purcell's Ruan on this Fri 24th August @ 9p.m.
