Training for Lay Led Liturgy in Imeall Boirne Cluster All of us are aware that we are living at a time of great change and that we need to prepare for a different kind of Church in the future. One of areas we need to prepare for is in the area of Liturgy. In September training will begin for lay led liturgy in our Cluster. This training will be held in Ruan Community Centre on Monday nights at 8 p.m. beginning on September 4th. Because it is important that everyone understands what is involved, we hope that as many as possible will take part in the training, including those already involved in any kind of ministry such as Ministers of the Word and Ministers of the Eucharist and those involved in choirs or liturgical music. At the end of the training we hope to have teams in place in the different parish and church communities able to lead a liturgy in the absence of a priest. The training will be led by Fr Ger Nash and Maureen Kelly.

All Ireland Fleadh: The old adage "practice makes perfect" stood the test last week as Fleadh Cheoil Na hEireann came to Ennis and by all accounts was the one which attracted more people than any other, to date. The stewarding was remarkable over the week and a number of people from the local GAA Club, and individuals involved in Comhaltais were part of that great volunteering effort. Shannen O'Donovan and Conor Wynne from this parish are members of the U18 Burren Grupai Cheoil which got 3rd in that competition. Garry and Majella Shannon also came 3rd with their Burren u18 Band. Lily O'Connor came 3rd in Concertina (15-18) and she took 1st with Rosa Carroll in Duets (15-18). Fergal Breen, with Jennifer Markham and Sinead Mulqueen came 3rd in Trios (O18). Eimear and Holly O'Loughlin were in the Inchicronan Grupa Ceoil which came 2nd (12-15) in that competition. Maisie O'Connor is a member of the Tulog Ceili Band which came 1st in the u12 competition. All who participated in the competitions, busking and stewarding, and just in taking in the atmosphere of the week, will have memories to cherish for a long time to come. IMEALL BOIRNE CLUSTER MEETING A very well attended cluster meeting took place in Crusheen on last Wednesday night to plan the response in the four parishes to the reduction to three priests in the nine church areas. Key issues discussed included Sunday and Weekday Masses, Receiving Funerals, Lay Led Liturgies, Parish and Cluster Administration and Sacramental Preparation. It was proposed that weekend Masses in the nine churches will be reduced to seven Masses and two lay led liturgies each weekend. No decision was made on how this would be organised and people are asked to discuss among themselves during the coming weeks what the best arrangement of these Masses might be. A final decision will be made at a follow up meeting on September 7th at 8.00 pm in Crusheen. It was agreed that all four parishes would combine so that a solution could be achieved.
