NET Ministries: On Wednesday the 1st of March the Junior Amplified youth (1st-3rd year) will be having a movie night at 6:00-7:30pm in the Ruan Church Hall.  There will be no Senior (TY-6th year) Amplified night, on Friday the 3rd of March, due to the team being away at the Youth 2000 retreat in Athenry, however youth are encouraged to join us.  Details can be found at Youth2000.ie.

 

Youth 2000 Prayer Meeting This week on Tuesday the 28th of Feb. the Youth 2000 Prayer Meeting run by the NET Team will be held in the Crusheen Church meeting room at 7:00 for all young adults between the ages of 16-35

Ruan Tidy Village are pleased to announce that we will be launching National Tree Week for County Clare on Monday 6th March at 3 pm. A tree will be planted to mark the occasion.

 

Ruan Tidy Village will be holding their next meeting on Wednesday 8th March in Morty Kelly’s at 8:30 pm to discuss the 3-year plan and changes going forward. We are inviting everyone, as this is about our Village and a Village for our children.

Yoga classes resume in Toonagh Hall on Mon. 27th Feb. at 11am and on Tue. eve. from 7pm

Thanks to all who contributed to the Clothes collection for Toonagh school which raised €730.  This will get new jerseys for the school's teams. The last collection this school term will be held on 7th May next when the Parents Association will 'go all out' to win the bonus prize of €1,500 so it is hoped the supporters will start putting aside old clothes, bed linen, towels, curtains, shoes, bags, belts, etc. for this collection

A Clothes Collection will be held to raise funds for sports equipment and school supplies on Thurs. 9th Feb. Holy Communion Preparation:   

First Preparation Ceremony for Holy Communion will take place in Ruan today Sunday 28th February at 10:00 am and in Dysart next Saturday 5th March at 6:30 pm

Indoor Athletics:  The Indoor Munster Athletic Championships were held in Nenagh over the past two weekends. Aisling Moloney from Toonagh did really well, finishing second in u12 girls 600m.

 

Cheoil an Gheimhridh: Shona O'Halloran from Dysart, with Roisin Clancy, (CCE, Croisin) came first in the u17 Duet section at the Munster final of Cheoil an Gheimhridh held in Dromcollogher recently. Tierna Casey, with Lily Price, Eileen and Eoin Costelloe, (CCE, Clarecastle Ballyea) came second in the quartet u13.

An Adult handball Club has been revived in Toonagh, after an absence of a number of years. Adults interested in playing handball are invited to the Sports Complex in Toonagh on Monday and Friday nights from 8pm - adult beginners welcome. Contact Eoghan Hynes @ 0838125591 for details.

 

Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) is offering Office Skills QQI Level 3 course in the Adult Education Centre, Clonroad Ennis starting in February/March.  This is a part-time course for adults who wish to develop their skills to work in an office environment. Apostolic Work:  Ruan and Dysart Apostolic Members are now busy preparing for their annual display of work which will be held in Ruan Community Centre on Sunday 10th April 2016.

If you wish to donate a sacred vessel to the missions in memory of a loved one it would be very much appreciated. The price list is on display in both Churches. If interested contact: Eileen Roughan, Eileen Hannon or Mary Marrinan.

 

Sale of work & bake sale Sunday 21st February in Toonagh Hall from 12-4 pm. This fundraising event is organised by Becky Curtin, Fountain, who is one of ten general nursing students travelling to Uganda this summer volunteering with the Irish Charity Nurture Africa where they will be providing healthcare and education to the local orphaned children. There will be lots of spot prizes and all are welcome. Bake a cake or donate any unwanted goods to help fund this amazing good cause, Contact Becky 0861521227 /0863533979 or drop donations to her home in Fountain.

Bingo Nite Friday Night 26th February: Dysart girl, Claire McDonnell, a trainee nurse, and her friend and fellow student, Aisling Sweeney from Connemara, are travelling to the outback in Tanzania in May, to help people in need, in hospitals there. They are holding a Bingo Nite in Purcell's Bar, Ruan on Fri. 26th Feb at 7.30 pm, to fund their venture, and they are hoping for local support on the night. There will be lots of prizes and a raffle and a great night's fun is guaranteed.
A walking/running group has been set up in Ruan with all levels of fitness, and none, welcome. It meets under lights every Tue. & Thurs. evenings in the hurling field, at 7.20pm. Further details from Loreto @ 0872855680.

Minor Club Registration 2016: Ruan Minor Club held a successful registration night in Toonagh Hall for the 2016 season. Under 13 Medal Presentation: Our Under 13 'C' Championship winning panel received their medals at a very well attended function in Toonagh Hall. Special guests on the night were Clare Senior hurlers David Reidy and David Fitzgerald who presented medals to the victorious Under 13 panel. They wished the players well for the year ahead and emphasised the need to practice the skills of hurling on your own.                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Health and Lifestyle Information Talk: This very important talk for our young hurlers and parents will take place this Wednesday, Feb 17th at 8.00pm in Ruan Community Centre. Part of the talk will focus on good practices for players' diets and sleeping/exercise balance. The talk will be given by Ged McNamara who has worked with the Clare senior hurling team. All invited to attend.
