NET Ministries  On Wednesday the 22nd of February the Junior Amplified youth (1st-3rd year) will be meeting at 6:00-7:30pm in the Ruan Church Hall, and on Friday the 24th, the Senior Amplified youth (TY-6th year) will be meeting from 7:30-9:00pm.


Youth 2000 Prayer Meeting: This week on Tuesday the 21st of Feb. the Youth 2000 Prayer Meeting run by the NET Team will be held in the Crusheen Church meeting room at 7:00 for all young adults between the ages of 16-35.

NET Ministries: *New meeting times* On Wednesday the 8th of February the Junior Amplified Youth (1st-3rd year) will be meeting at 6:00-7:30pm in the Ruan Church hall, and on Friday the 10th of Feb. the Senior Amplified Youth (TY-6th) will be meeting from 7:30-9:00pm.

The KDYC (Killaloe Diocesan Youth Council) are having their annual overnight on Friday 10th February in St. Flannan's College, Ennis. This event is open to all young people aged 16 to 19. A Clothes Collection will be held to raise funds for sports equipment and school supplies on Thurs. 9th Feb. Members of the Parents Association will be in Toonagh Hall will be in the hall on the day from 9-10am, 1.45-3pm and 6.30-7.30pm to receive bags of clean used clothing, bed linen, curtains, belts, bags & shoes.

Trócaire Lenten Campaign 2016:     '...but no one who drinks the water I shall give will ever be thirsty again...' John 4:14.  Millions of farmers in Kenya suffer from a lack of rain due to the effects of climate change.  Trócaire is installing irrigation systems and piping in drinking water to ensure farmers can grow enough to feed their families and there is clean water to drink without having to rely on the rain.  Join the fight for justice at www.trocaire.org

Holy Communion Preparation:   

First Preparation Ceremony for Holy Communion will take place in Ruan today Sunday 28th February at 10:00 am and in Dysart next Saturday 5th March at 6:30 pm

Indoor Athletics:  The Indoor Munster Athletic Championships were held in Nenagh over the past two weekends. Aisling Moloney from Toonagh did really well, finishing second in u12 girls 600m.

 

Cheoil an Gheimhridh: Shona O'Halloran from Dysart, with Roisin Clancy, (CCE, Croisin) came first in the u17 Duet section at the Munster final of Cheoil an Gheimhridh held in Dromcollogher recently. Tierna Casey, with Lily Price, Eileen and Eoin Costelloe, (CCE, Clarecastle Ballyea) came second in the quartet u13.

An Adult handball Club has been revived in Toonagh, after an absence of a number of years. Adults interested in playing handball are invited to the Sports Complex in Toonagh on Monday and Friday nights from 8pm - adult beginners welcome. Contact Eoghan Hynes @ 0838125591 for details.

 

Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) is offering Office Skills QQI Level 3 course in the Adult Education Centre, Clonroad Ennis starting in February/March.  This is a part-time course for adults who wish to develop their skills to work in an office environment. Sale of work & bake sale Sunday 21st February in Toonagh Hall from 12-4 pm. This fundraising event is organised by Becky Curtin, Fountain, who is one of ten general nursing students travelling to Uganda this summer volunteering with the Irish Charity Nurture Africa where they will be providing healthcare and education to the local orphaned children. There will be lots of spot prizes and all are welcome. Bake a cake or donate any unwanted goods to help fund this amazing good cause, Contact Becky 0861521227 /0863533979 or drop donations to her home in Fountain.

Bingo Nite Friday Night 26th February: Dysart girl, Claire McDonnell, a trainee nurse, and her friend and fellow student, Aisling Sweeney from Connemara, are travelling to the outback in Tanzania in May, to help people in need, in hospitals there. They are holding a Bingo Nite in Purcell's Bar, Ruan on Fri. 26th Feb at 7.30 pm, to fund their venture, and they are hoping for local support on the night. There will be lots of prizes and a raffle and a great night's fun is guaranteed.

Under 13 Medal Presentation: Our Under 13 'C' Championship winning panel received their medals at a very well attended function in Toonagh Hall. Special guests on the night were Clare Senior hurlers David Reidy and David Fitzgerald who presented medals to the victorious Under 13 panel. They wished the players well for the year ahead and emphasised the need to practice the skills of hurling on your own.                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Health and Lifestyle Information Talk: This very important talk for our young hurlers and parents will take place this Wednesday, Feb 17th at 8.00pm in Ruan Community Centre. Part of the talk will focus on good practices for players' diets and sleeping/exercise balance. The talk will be given by Ged McNamara who has worked with the Clare senior hurling team. Fitness 4 Fun with John Conroy for both men and women has resumed in Ruan Community Centre on Wednesdays from 1:15pm to 2:15pm. Cost €5. John who is the founder of Fitness4Fun is an experienced and qualified fitness coach for older adult fitness. Exercise can reduce the risk of developing some age-related diseases and disabilities. People with arthritis, heart disease or diabetes benefit from regular physical activity and exercise can also help people with blood pressure, balance problems or difficulty walking. All are welcome to come.

 

Clothes collection for Toonagh School: Now that people are back to routine after the holidays, they may be organising the wardrobes in readiness for Spring. Toonagh School is holding a clothes collection on 11th Feb and would welcome donations of clean, used clothing, bed linen, towels, curtains, belts, bags and shoes. Monies raised will be used for new classroom supplies

Ennis St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2015: The 2015 Ennis St. Patrick’s Day parade will be held on March 17th and will commence at 11am. The recently appointed parade Co-ordinator, Ger Sweeney, is calling on groups, businesses, societies and clubs in the Ennis area to get involved in this year’s parade. This year the theme of the parade is “Celebrating Our Community”. All participating groups will be entered into a free draw. There are four prizes of €150 to be won and there is a “Best Float/Group” prize of €400. Ennis St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2015: The 2015 Ennis St. Patrick’s Day parade will be held on March 17th and will commence at 11am. The recently appointed parade Co-ordinator, Ger Sweeney, is calling on groups, businesses, societies and clubs in the Ennis area to get involved in this year’s parade. This year the theme of the parade is “Celebrating Our Community”. All participating groups will be entered into a free draw. There are four prizes of €150 to be won and there is a “Best Float/Group” prize of €400. Ruan Minor Club held a successful registration night with a great turnout of players registering for the 2015 season. Special guest on the night was local star Killian Ryan who presented medals to the victorious camogie teams, he also wished both clubs well for the year ahead and he emphasised the need to practice the skills of hurling as the young players were the future of our club. Clothes, shoes, handbags, curtains, bed linen are all welcome. Toonagh Hall will be open from 9am-10am, 1.45pm-3pm and 6.30pm-7.30pm on the day to drop off donations.
